inspiration: landscape

Eager to get started on the landscaping for the house. Maybe a bit too eager as the DG in the courtyard isn’t going to work out for a few reasons: drainage and overall mess. I managed to spend the good part of sunday shoveling DG out to the front. Only half way there…planning to pour concrete on Wednesday. We’ll leave a small cut out for a palo verde tree. Going to back to the original plan. trial and error.

The good folks at d-crain are quite the inspiration. I dig the orderly chaos of these landscapes.

  1. Did the DG not drain well?

hi, it drains… but takes a few days to dry out. it’s my understanding DG will harden and compact over time for water to flow along the surface, however, due to the single catch along with the proximity to the structure, we’ve decided to pour concrete to ensure moisture stays clear of the structure. we’re using it out front in our planter boxes.

hi – look your blog found via the brick house. Would you mind telling me the colour of your Togo sofa. I am looking to buy one and am totally having a nightmare at the vast choice of colours.

hello – It’s light gray in a micro-suede fabric. it’s about 10 years old.. and started to develop small bits of ‘fuzz’. I hear you can remove ‘em with a razor…

thanks! I thought it looked a stone colour! Looks great for being 10 years old. This is the dilemma – a colour for 10 years plus! thanks again

  6. Hi! Great looking project, just took notice of it on The Brick House. Also renovating a house, in upstate New York, and would love to know about your process of refinishing your floors? Couldn’t find a search function on your blog to locate the info and pics?
    Can’t wait to see more!
