Rain put the color coat on hold.

The long awaited skylight was installed in the latest round of work. The bathroom has a nice feel now that natural light is shining thru. If I could have it my way, I’d be down for living under a glass roof… But, maybe not a good idea given we live directly below the flight path. Check out this house in buzen from one of my favorites…. suppose design office.

Looked out the window this morning to find this gem street side… just another statistic.

Ken completed most of the roof today. Pending rain, stucco Monday!

the walls are tall. looking good. day 3: crickets, waterproofing and skylight(!)

The roof was started today, scaffolding, tear off, and eaves cut back. I managed to climb up to snap a few photos. View to the east, south and of course, inbound traffic.

we finally have a break in the weather to start the roof. we’re extending the walls to create a parapet. this will divert rainwater away from the back of the house. these drawings illustrate the general idea, minus the crickets to divert water to the corners. scuppers are added to allow for drainage. the house will be color-coated white when we’re done with the stucco work.

I’m working in SF this week. If you’re in the area this friday, the good folks at ordinary kids are putting on a show.

quite the luxurious drainage solution. we dug a trench from the back to front. this kept most of the water away from the house from this last round of rain. our parcel takes in some serious water given its low location on the hillside. it’s been a good 24 hours and water is still flowing downstream.
