One spot I was really looking forward to visiting was Rothman & Associates — You see, I’ve been searching for vibrant, solid color upholstery fabrics — maharam-like without the maharam prices. I found Rothman & Associates days before online and it was plain luck they happened to be located in downtown miami. I arrived to a huge warehouse where I was handed a pair of scissors in search for the perfect fabric. 4 hours later, I found a few options (green!!) that will go nicely with a sofa we just picked up. At $3.99(!) per yard, I can upholster a wall in this stuff. If you’re interested in a weave, I recommend calling vs. placing your order online. Ask for Kristina and mention fabric closeouts.

David’s Cafe is a great place for a Colada — little did i know it was 4-6 shots of sweetened espresso that should be shared with others… with my spanish lacking skills, I accidentally ordered 2… whoops. I downed them both.

I always want to do more with less. The principle of less is more doesn’t always work with my communication style. I have a tendency to talk, and talk, in a slightly disorganized fashion, especially when it comes to this house remodel. So stick with me on this post…

I’ve collected objects & furniture over the last 15 years thru barter, cash or early on, thru the painful lessons of credit. Objects & furniture I considered as investments; artwork, sculpture, not merely viewed as a chair. Part of my collecting process: pony up the funds, pick it up, live with it, cherish it…something new captures your attention, store it, sell it. set it free to a new beholder.

Many of these items have been in storage, and simply won’t make the cut in the house, primarily due to size. I’ve started the process via collaborative consumption and ebay. sorry to the good folks at Objectified for hacking their nice poster.

Space 4 Art has joined forces with a dozen members of the East Village creative community for Open Spaces, an unstructured urban art tour form 4 to 8 pm on Saturday, September 4th. Our good friends at hydrodynamica will have their space open.

Music is a necessity in the home + office. I return to these favorites often: DJ & artist Tyler Askew and iso50. other artists on repeat include Cal Tjader, Fela Kuti, and Shuggie Otis.

I cleaned out storage and found lots of stuff reserved for my late-90s look: kartell, driade, droog, random vintage pieces, objects, and other stuff such as plastic grass mats. Typically used for display purposes, I found these at Cite back in the day. At the time, Cite was a small shop with a ton of fun accessories, vintage furniture and emerging designers. I hear that it might be closed. shame, as the shop was super tight and well edited.

So, why store these when I can give them away for free? hah. anyway. if you’re willing to pick em up, you can have them. I’m too lazy to ship these as I have a several boxes full. each piece is about 10″ x 10″ x 2″ in height. snap together for an instant green wall! not to be used as a mat on the floor.

the catch? you gotta take it all. maybe 100 or so pieces? not sure tbh

gone. going to a good home.
