Tokyo Design Week is on as of today, and I wish I was there…. maybe next year. Tokyo Designer’s Week, 100% Design Tokyo, and DesignTide are all running until November 4.  via designboom

100% design show happened last month in london. wurd from designboom and shift is the green theme. one of my all-time favorite bags shown above from qurz, inc.

There are eight exhibiters from Japan. “Monacca“, the wooden bag and furniture series was very appealing. They use thinning wood, which is usually thrown away as waste in Japan, to remain in keeping with the theme of being green. The attaché cases were particularly appealing, especially a good idea for keeping your laptop safely stored away. With this design, the ancient Japanese woodcraft tradition is being celebrated in a very modern fashion. Along with this are Zabuton, the traditional Japanese low seated stools, again utilising the thinning wood.

thinking of simple, minimal pieces that would work well for our friends building their new place. they’ve done a nice job of documenting the progress. Pursuing Wabi. Wabi, a simple way of life, free of ornateness. The house is designed in collaboration with sebastian mariscal.

here’s a few early pics of the space. overall, we love it here, less the storage space, and the fact you have to walk up 2 flights of stairs to get the bathroom. but 9 months later, we’re used to it.
